Environment
| The Jubilee Inn & Environmental Issues – Update 2012 Like many individuals and businesses we have become much more aware of environmental issues. Here are some of the things we do - and we plan to do more: Recycling – all our waste glass and cardboard is recycled, thereby reducing the pressure on land fill waste. We are now recycling a lot of other items such as tin and plastic. Over 90% of our produce and drinks are locally sourced, reducing “food miles” and making sure we serve fresh local produce. We have now completed other energy saving measures by replacing all our lighting with low energy lamps. Only rainwater stored in butts is used to water our garden and flower baskets. All our cisterns are fitted with water saving devices. Our used cooking oil is now converted into bio fuel as a substitute for diesel We have also put secial containers in our bedrooms so guests can place discarded newspapers and magaizes in them for recycling. Vegetable peelings are separately kept and passed to Porfell Wildlife Park & Sanctuary near Lanreath for animal feed. Other food waste is now composted. Even shredded paper is used by chef’s young daughters as bedding for their hamsters! Outside the Jubilee Inn we regularly maintain our perimeter, removing stray rubbish and keeping our borders tidy. These are some of our measures that I hope you find informative. Charlie Edgeler Jubilee Inn
